Watch: Orioles fan catches foul ball in giant tray of barbecue

When you are attending a baseball game, you always need to be alert for foul balls or home runs heading in your direction.

Some people decide to bring a glove as an added layer of protection to give themselves a chance to snag a souvenir.

But as one fan in Baltimore displayed on Thursday afternoon, sometimes all you need is a giant tray of barbecue.

While Orioles right fielder Ryan O'Hearn was batting in the bottom of the fourth inning, he sent a line drive into the right field stands, resulting in this hilarity.

On one hand, that is one of the most unique ways to end up with a foul ball. We have occasionally seen fans have a ball end up in their cup of beer or bucket of popcorn, but this might be the first barbecue foul ball. The ball did not even hit the ground. It just landed perfectly on his tray and ended up covered in barbecue sauce.

But the bad news is that the catch probably ruined an entire tray of perfectly good barbecue. Given how expensive ballpark food is, that is not exactly the best trade off for the fan here.

A Major League Baseball has an average cost of around $7. A plate of barbecue from Boog's BBQ at Camden Yards probably goes for way more than that.
